 mily of Valerio Iacono\, the CAI\, represented by Francesco Mattera\, and 
 Cesare Mattera\, a traditional farmer and former mayor of Serrara Fontana\
 , continues\, together with friends from Forio and Serrara Fontana\, a tra
 dition they themselves began more than twenty years ago.\nOn Saturday\, Au
 gust 15\, the meeting point is at 7:30 a.m.\, in front of the Il Bracconie
 re restaurant in Serrara Fontana.\nFrom there\, the new “pilgrims of the e
 nvironment” will set off. After crossing the sun-drenched rocks of Frassit
 elli and the Acacia woods\, they will reach the fascinating area of Falang
 a.\nAccompanied by experienced CAI guides\, selected by Francesco Mattera 
 himself\, participants will explore this still-thriving natural habitat an
 d visit the Fosse della Neve (ancient snow pits) and the Case di Pietra (s
 tone houses)\, continuing as far as the remarkable Pietra Pirciata and the
  limestone woodland of Bianchetto.\nIt will be an opportunity to immerse o
 urselves in an extraordinary flora\, rich in rare species\, while rediscov
 ering one of the most fascinating and distinctive natural environments of 
 the island of Ischia.\nOn the way back\, we will welcome you with traditio
 nal rural cuisine: bread with tomatoes and the farmer’s salad\, accompanie
 d by the excellent wine from Cesare’s cellar.\nThere will also be granita\
 , reviving the ancient tradition of using snow preserved in the specially 
 built “snow pits.”\nThis year’s excursion is dedicated to the memory of Va
 lerio Iacono\, who was one of the driving forces behind this initiative to
